What Should I Weigh?

Your body mass index (BMI) as defined by the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention, considers you “overweight” with a BMI of 25-29.9 and “obese” over 30. To calculate your BMI:

  • Divide your weight in pounds by your height in inches
  • Height of 5’8” equates to 68 inches
  • Divide again by height
  • Then multiply by 703

Example: 5’8” tall / 195 pounds
  195 divided by 68” = 2.88
  2.88 divided by 68 = .042
  042 X 703 = 29.8 BMI almost Obese
